When it comes to jarred vegan pasta sauces, there’s a plethora of brands to choose from, both in specialty stores as well mainstream supermarkets. But when it comes to vegan alfredo sauces, the choices are almost nil, which is a shame, because who doesn’t love that gooey white goodness sitting atop your pasta! But folks, there is an alternative. Victoria Fine Foods has just the cure when you get the yens for a creamy, cheesy vegan alfredo sauce AND it has artichokes! After getting a jar from Vegan Yack Attack as part of Macaroon’s Power to the Veg swap box, I just had to review it just for the artichokes alone! By the way, thanks Jackie. You rock for this!
Based in Brooklyn, New York, Victoria Fine Foods has been making quality foods for over 80 years. Although they’re not a vegan company, they do offer a good amount of vegan options such as antipasti items like olives, artichokes, and marinated veggies, as well as sauces, including a specialty line called Victoria Vegan! Albeit we’ve seen jars of Victoria Vegan on store shelves many times, we never got around to trying any until now.
Creamy and slightly chunky, Victoria Vegan Alfredo Sauce is light, with a hint of garlic that meshes well with the sweet slivers of marinated artichokes that swim inside. After adding a few pieces of Upton’s Naturals Bacon Seitan to the sauce for a bit of a carbonara twist, we ended up putting it over bowtie pasta with sprinkles of Parmela Parmesan-style grated cheese and some fresh cracked pepper. Yum! Mac and I both dug it! We want some more!
Time to go to the store…
