To celebrate Artichoke’s birthday, we had a fun, exciting day! First, we visited the New York Botanical Garden for the Monet’s Garden exhibition. Then, we headed into Manhattan and found ourselves amidst in a major street fair on the Upper East Side. Finally, we headed to a magnificent dinner at Candle 79, a place Artie has been wanting to try for a couple of years.
Needless to say, we had a BLAST!
The birthday boy was treated to breakfast in bed: homemade asparagus tofu scramble with “cheese” sauce (giving credit to JL Fields for the recipe) with vegan waffles and veggie sausage patties:

The icing on the cake: Dinner at Candle 79:
Artichoke was so surprised when I told him we were going to Candle 79 for dinner! Nothing could take the smile off of his face. This place is so great from service to food. There really isn’t a need for us to post a review. Let’s just say that we left with a cookbook! So, we’ll let the photos speak for themselves with a couple of captions (so you know what we enjoyed)!
