Being a vegetarian in The Bronx is a challenge. Being a vegan is near impossible. Unless you travel to the outer boroughs of NYC or Westchester County, your prospects for finding vegetarian or vegan meals are dim. Fortunately, we found a little gem on Broadway in Kingsbridge called Garden Gourmet Market.
This small store is packed with lots of vegan and vegetarian goodies, all fresh and reasonably priced; think of it as a miniature sized Fairway Market. They have a myriad of international foods that include Middle Eastern, Jewish/Kosher, Asian, Latin, etc. Parking is not as much of a problem as you might think, for there’s some meters across the street and a Staples with a lot next door. I recommend that any Bronxites who are jonesing for some vegan yummies should stop at Garden Gourmet Market.
