Dandies Marshmallows

I love marshmallows. Once I turned vegan, the realization that I must give up those precious little white confections had hit me hard. After doing a little online research, we came across a brand that got rave reviews. Dandies, made by Chicago Soydairy, are AMAZINGLY tasty.
The taste almost like traditional marshmallows but are slightly more dense. Albeit most stores do not stock Dandies, Whole Foods carries them at a steep price of $7.00 a bag. You can order them online for a lot less, but unless you’re going to order a bunch, it’s not worth it due to the shipping cost.
The only other knock on Dandies is that they are a tad small, about 1/3 the size of a normal sized marshmallow.
Try them and let us know what you think. In the meantime, Macaroon’s going to try making some rice krispie treats with them.

  1. How did your rice krispies squares turn out? I was going to make these as well but if your experience wasn't positive, I may not bother. The Whole Foods in Vancouver BC sells the packages for $4.69 each.

  2. Hi Jodelene, They actually turned out well. It was just as if I used standard marshmallows. At some point, I'd like to make my own vegan marshmallows. I made ones with gelatin a couple of years ago before even going vegetarian and they were quite easy. I just have to find to the time to try making vegan ones myself.
