Cherry Sauce

Life is a bowl and thensome of cherries.

My mom hit the motherlode with bing cherries. Since we had some vanilla ice cream left over that we got for the peach cobbler I made, I thought it would be cool to make a quick cherry sauce. So I found this recipe at and tried it out.

Excellent topping to ice cream AND to anything else you want to put it on! Try it for yourself.

  • 3/4 cup sugar (I used 1/4 + 2 tbsp Splenda Baking Blend)
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 dash salt
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 4 cups fresh tart red cherries or frozen unsweetened tart red cherries, pitted


  1. Combine sugar, cornstarch and salt in a saucepan.
  2. Stir in water.
  3. Add the cherries and cook until thick and bubbly.
