My mom hit the motherlode with bing cherries. Since we had some vanilla ice cream left over that we got for the peach cobbler I made, I thought it would be cool to make a quick cherry sauce. So I found this recipe at Recipezaar.com and tried it out.
- 3/4 cup sugar (I used 1/4 + 2 tbsp Splenda Baking Blend)
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 1 dash salt
- 1/3 cup water
- 4 cups fresh tart red cherries or frozen unsweetened tart red cherries, pitted
- Combine sugar, cornstarch and salt in a saucepan.
- Stir in water.
- Add the cherries and cook until thick and bubbly.
